Community Art Banner in Coarsegold, CA featuring hand painted animals native to the region.

Celebrate Local Art and Community Spirit at the Community Art Banner Auction Soiree

Coarsegold, CA, October 30, 2024 – As ARTober (October) comes to a close in the mountain communities of Eastern Madera County, the vibrant Community Art Banners that have greeted visitors and residents to Yosemite’s Southern Gateway all summer are preparing for their next journey. On November 9, from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM, join the Eastern Madera County Foundation for an enchanting evening at the Community Art Banner Auction Soiree at Coarsegold Community Center. This one-of-a-kind auction offers locals the opportunity to bring local artistry into their homes, gardens, or businesses as each of the 25 banners finds a new place in the community.

Tickets are available at ArtBannerAuction.eventbrite.com for $35 from November 1 - 8 and $40 at the door. All proceeds from the evening will benefit future EMCF Beautification Projects, adding more vibrance and pride to the mountain communities. Each ticket includes a complimentary glass of champagne or sparkling cider to set the tone for a festive evening, as well as one entry into an exciting prize drawing. A curated selection of beverages, including beer, wine and hot buttered rum from Oakhurst Spirits, will be available for purchase at the bar.

The EMCF partnered with Visit Yosemite | Madera County, local businesses, and the artist community to create 25 banners placed throughout Coarsegold, Oakhurst, North Fork, and Bass Lake communities. Each banner features a welcome message on one side and a unique painting by a talented local artist inspired by the area on the other.

“When thinking streetscape beautification, it made total sense to bring our artists and business community together to create an Art Banner project that celebrates all of the amazing reasons we love where we live!” Expressed Rachael Snedecor, Chair of the Community Art Banner Project. She continued, “With the support of the Eastern Madera County Foundation and Visit Yosemite | Madera County organizations, this grass roots effort has been a spectacular showcase of the visual artists and a stellar welcome to our visitors! It has been a joy to be a part of it!”

After years of envisioning and planning a warm welcome for visitors and a boost to community pride, the Community Art Banner project was unveiled in May 2024. The banners welcomed travelers to the Southern Yosemite region from Memorial Day to ARTober (October), with plans to unveil new banners each summer and an annual auction in November. More information about the artists behind these incredible works can be found at yosemitethisyear.com/community-art-banners.

The Eastern Madera County Foundation is a leading force in the community’s mission to unite the mountain towns of Eastern Madera County, enhance public spaces, support cultural and historical preservation, and foster projects that benefit residents and visitors alike. The Community Art Banner Auction Soiree is your chance to take home a unique piece of art while supporting the community. Tickets are available at ArtBannerAuction.eventbrite.com
