History of Hilmar Cheese Company
In the early 1900s, dairy farmers began settling in Hilmar, California. By 1984, twelve of these families founded Hilmar Cheese Company to maximize the value of their Jersey cows’ high-solids milk, aiming to create new opportunities for dairy farmers and ensure fair pricing for their milk.
Today, the company continues to uphold these values, focusing on innovation, technology, and skilled workforce development. Hilmar Cheese remains dedicated to investing in people and communities, with over 1,500 employees in Hilmar, CA, and Dalhart, TX, making a positive impact worldwide. The founders and their descendants are still actively involved in guiding the company’s growth and success.
